From the start of the 2016 season, it seemed as if the most likely way to get the most out of a player was to let him talk, not watch.
Injuries were a constant problem.
He was a big-money commodity in free agency, and he didn’t have much of a contract.
It wasn’t as if he’d suddenly become a valuable asset, either.
And with the NFL on the cusp of a salary cap boom, that meant the quarterback’s time would be up.
The problem was, the team in charge was the Philadelphia Eagles, who needed a quarterback.
They could use the veteran to take on some of the risk of a rookie, and with Carson Wentz on the roster, they’d be better off if he stayed.
But there was a chance he might not be there.
And if Wentz got hurt and went on injured reserve, the Eagles could go out and draft a quarterback of their choosing.
And that was the risk.
Wentz had started the season on the PUP list.
Now, the quarterback was set to make his first NFL start.
So why not let him do it in person?
“That would have been my first thought,” Wentz said.
Wentz did the unthinkable and joined the team. “
But I feel like that’s not what’s going on right now, so I’m not going to sit there and tell you what I think.”
Wentz did the unthinkable and joined the team.
“If you watch it live, it feels like the first time,” Wentos said.
In a rare and unexpected move, the rookie quarterback sat on the bench for the first three quarters.
He then threw a pass to Jordan Matthews for a touchdown and the Eagles won, 20-13.
After the game, Wentz was asked about the play and said he was glad he was able to be around Wentz.
“I just like being around guys like that,” he said.
That was Wentz’s first game since undergoing surgery for a torn ACL in January.
And he did it on a team that had just lost starting quarterback Carson Wentze for the year.
But that’s exactly what Wentz needed.
The rookie was on the field for just about every play during the first quarter, throwing the ball with his right arm, which was held by a trainer.
Wentson’s first throw was an incomplete pass to Matthews, which he quickly turned into a touchdown.
Then Wentz started making plays.
He completed eight of 11 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown, the only touchdown in the second quarter.
The Eagles led 24-3 with 10:16 left.
They had just enough time to put away the Cowboys, 27-3.
The defense held the Cowboys to one touchdown on their final three possessions, with quarterback Dak Prescott throwing two interceptions in the final six minutes.
It was the first big play of the day for Wentz, who was 6 of 9 for 71 yards with one touchdown, one interception and two fumbles.
He made it 20-0 on a 3-yard run with 10 seconds left.
But it was the start that Wentz really needed.
With the game tied 24-24, the Cowboys were running out of time.
“There was a lot of time for us to make a play,” Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said.
The Cowboys were already down 14 points on their next drive, and Prescott, who had been throwing the football for the Eagles, fumbled a punt.
Then, after a two-yard pass to Dez Bryant, Wentson picked up seven yards on a 2-yard screen pass to Bryant for the touchdown.
“He’s a real instinctive player,” Prescott said.
Wentzer completed eight straight passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns, the longest of his career.
He had the game’s lone interception of the game on a 19-yard throw to Matthews.
But the Cowboys lost by a score of 23-17 with 1:41 left in the third quarter.
Prescott went to the bench with a groin injury.
The next day, Wents’ agent, Josh Whitman, said Wentz would miss the remainder of the season.
The quarterback did not miss any regular-season games, including games against the Rams and Seahawks.
Wenttz is still one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks, but he’s not a Hall of Famer and is not on the same level as Peyton Manning.
But in his first season in the league, Wentts proved that he can be a superstar.
Wentzik is on the NFL commissioner’s exempt list for this year, which means he will not be paid for the entire season.
And while Wentz has been on injured leave, he still has the ability to earn his salary.
And after Wentz made it through his first year on the team, it was clear the Eagles
