IDF soldier arrested in connection with murder of Palestinian teen

An Israeli soldier has been arrested and charged in connection to the murder of a Palestinian teen, who was shot and killed while carrying out a routine patrol.

According to the Jerusalem Post, IDF Maj. Gen. Avigdor Lieberman has been charged with murder, the second such case of its kind in the last month.

Lieberman is currently serving a sentence of four years in prison for his role in the murder.

According the Post, Lieberman has denied the charges.

The suspect has been identified as Eyal Yifrah, 17.

Yifrah was shot in the head on Monday, October 23, during a routine security patrol.

The teen was carrying his cellphone with him when he was shot, but his father has not been able to locate him.

The police are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime.

In the past few months, a string of violent crimes have taken place in Jerusalem, including the stabbing death of a 15-year-old boy on October 22, and the killing of a Jewish woman and her husband at their home in September.
